Project Starfish, Tampa, Florida

Project Starfish provides general health care services as well as diabetic screening and treatment clinics in Southern India, with American and Indian health care professionals collaborating to sustain medical coverage in these communities.

Project Starfish created medical camps in the rural villages, with Holy Cross Hospital as the hub. Each camp has an Indian coordinator to work with its community as American and Indian teams coordinate tasks. These teams consist of doctors, nurses, nursing students, pharmacists, and dieticians.

Children Across Borders provides funding for the neonatal unit at the Holy Cross Hospital. Funding supports the cost of ventilators for the most at-risk patients and a C-PAP, which has prevented children in respiratory distress from having to use the ventilator.
